Road closure planned for U.S. 31 in Kokomo

HOWARD COUNTY, Ind. — The Indiana Department of Transportation announces the closure of southbound U.S. 31 in Kokomo for concrete pavement repairs.

Beginning on or after Thursday, August 14, crews will be working between the State Road 931interchanges on the north and south sides of Kokomo. Work on the project is expected to be complete by the middle of October. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.

During the closure, drivers on southbound U.S. 31 should use the official detour of State S.R. 931. Drivers on southbound U.S. 35 should use the official detour that follows State Road 18 and State Road 13.

INDOT encourages drivers to consider safety for all by slowing down, using extra caution and driving distraction-free when travelling in and around all work zones.

About Buckle Up Phone Down
Buckle Up Phone Down is a safety initiative adopted by the Indiana Department of Transportation in late 2023. Unrestrained motorists and passengers, as well as distracted driving continue to be contributing factors in fatal and serious injury crashes on Indiana roadways. Buckle Up Phone Down is one of many efforts to change driver behavior and improve roadway safety across Indiana.
The actions are simple: when you get into a vehicle, buckle up. If you are the driver, put the phone down. Every trip. Every time. Learn more and accept the challenge at BUPDIN.com.
